What is F Gas 2079?

F Gas accreditation is designed for contractors who are required to meet the legal requirements when working with Fluorinated Gases and other ozone-depleting substances (ODS).

F Gas is an EU regulation in line with the commitments within the Kyoto agreement to reducing the harmful effects of greenhouse gases.

Post Britain’s exit from the EU, F Gas 2079 will continue as the benchmark for all suppliers handling ODS substances, as government guidelines state the UK will continue to “use the same schedule as the EU to phase down HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons, the most common type of F gas) by 79% by 2030 relative to a 2009 to 2012 baseline” and that companies will “still need to comply with EU regulations on F gas, ODS and products containing them that you place on the EU market after 1 January 2021.”
